Imo State Governor Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has alerted the public to the activities of fraudsters who are advertising sale of contract award forms online.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Chibuike Onyeukwu, at the weekend, said fraudulent-minded persons were asking people to pay N25,000 to purchase contract forms before they could be given such opportunity to execute contracts for the state.
The statement said the swindlers were using phone numbers 08103778371, 08129847756, e-mail godgud1@yahoo.com and bank details: Prof. Salmanu Munkaila, FCMB 6175924010.
Also, a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Steve Osuji, said the committee saddled with the verification of retirees in the state before payment takes place would soon disclose venues and time of the data and biometric capturing, urging patience as the exercise would only be the last to be held.
In another development, Ihedioha has urged Watersmith Oil and Gas Company to play its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the state by assisting the state government in the area of technical and vocational education and youths’ skills acquisition.
Ihedioha made the appeal at the weekend when he paid a facility tour of the company in Ohaji /Egbema Local Council of the state.
The governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Gerald Irona and some members of the State Executive Council, said partnership with company would enable the youths from the host communities to acquire the required skills which the company would need to carry out its production work rather than shopping for such outside the vicinity, adding that his visit was a follow-up to the company’s management earlier visit to him, led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Abdulrazaq Isah.
He appealed to the firm to partner with the state in establishing the vocational and technical institution with needed curriculum in Ohaji/Egbema, including training manpower from the host communities in actualising mutual benefits.
The governor said the state would help the company actualise its demand in the area of free export zone and acquiring Certificate of Occupancy, thereby creating favourable environment for investors to invest.
He urged the outfit to create avenue for the needed manpower from the host communities to thrive, providing such basic amenities in the area such as electricity, access and motorable roads, provide off-grid power distribution in the 300 mw plant, water, among others.
