A woman identified as Shakirat Rasheed, who stood as guarantor for her friend to obtain a Lapo loan has reportedly committed suicide, after her friend disappeared into thin air with the loan.
According to reports, she is said to have hung herself on Friday, after the microfinance bank which gave out the loan started mounting pressure on her for a refund.
Family members were said to have prevented the police from evacuating and cutting down her corps from the rope she used for the suicide, claiming that there would be a need to perform some rituals before her body would be brought down.
